Generic ETL Install Documents 1 'Essence Corp'
Email to ‘Essence Corp’
Please see below the information you need to go through before our installation call, which I have scheduled for Tuesday @ 2pm EST (11am PST).
(we always have to specify time zones now 😊)
Please make sure all requirements are met.
The idea for the call on Tuesday is we connect with you, Andre will do the installation sharing his screen, while we walk him through it. Please see user requirements below.
If you have any questions about any of this before our call, please let us know. And if that day/time doesn’t work for you, also let me know.
Otherwise, we will talk on Tuesday!
Installation Requirements:
Server where ETL+ will be installed
needs to be able to connect to server where Sage X3 is located, if not the same server
needs to have Static (or Fixed) IPv4
must meet System Requirements
Installation user must meet Credentials Requirements
Pre-install requirements:
The person doing the install must have a user with local Windows Admin rights, in order to install the ETL+ software and agent
ETL+ will need a SQL user:
with an unchanging password that the ETL will use to pull the data
with read-only rights
You do not need to share the pw with us if you don’t want to; but the important thing is that this user has a password that does not expire (otherwise, the refresh will stop working when the password expires)
some clients call this user DataSelf, to make it easier to identify
does not need to be a new user, as long as it meets criteria
The person doing the install will need to know:
Server Name (where ETL+ will be installed / where Sage X3 is located)
Database name (where Sage X3 is located)
Schema name for X3 production environment
What time to run the nightly data load (after batches are posted and any server backups etc are completed)
They also need to make the decision about which Server user will run the Agent service (that schedules the refreshes)
Additional questions:
Who will be the Site Admin for the Tableau reporting site? The Site Admin can add additional users and control their security permissions to different data templates. Usually, you want that to be yourself or an active Tableau user, since it uses one of your Tableau user licenses. è I think the answer here has been determined to be Thomas. Please confirm.
