Deactivate a Tableau Desktop License

How to deactivate a Tableau Desktop license that was activated by Tableau Cloud. To transfer Tableau Desktop to another computer, you must first deactivate its license.

Deactivate the Desktop License

1. Close all the instances of Tableau Desktop on the computer where the license needs to be deactivated

2. On Windows open cmd (Command Prompt) as an administrator

3. Enter C:\Program Files\Tableau\Tableau 2021.4\bin

4. Enter atrdiag.exe -deleteallatrs

You should now be able to activate the Tableau Desktop license on another computer.
