This guide explains how to connect Microsoft Copilot to your DataSelf MCP+ for Data Warehousing & Analytics.
Add the DataSelf MCP+ Connector
Open Microsoft Copilot in your browser.
Go to Settings (or Manage connectors, depending on your Copilot version).
Select Add Connector (or Add MCP Server, if available).
Enter the following information:
Name
DataSelf MCP+ Data Warehouse DS DW
Server URL
https://mcp.dataself.com
Click Add or Connect.
Grant Permissions
After adding the connector, Microsoft Copilot may ask you to grant permissions. We recommend enabling all available actions so Copilot can fully interact with your DataSelf data warehouse.
This allows Copilot to:
-
Discover available databases and tables
-
Retrieve metadata
-
Execute SQL queries
-
Analyze data
-
Return reports and summaries
Depending on your Microsoft environment, you may be prompted to sign in with your Microsoft 365 account and consent to using the DataSelf MCP+ connector.
Start Asking Questions
Open a new Copilot chat.
The DataSelf MCP+ Data Warehouse DS DW connector is now available.
To ensure Copilot uses DataSelf MCP+, include a reference such as DataSelf, MCP+, DS DW, or data warehouse in your prompt.
The first time Copilot uses a DataSelf MCP+ tool in a new chat, it may ask for permission. Click Allow to proceed. You can expand the tool call to review the exact query executed. Some versions of Microsoft Copilot also let you inspect the tool invocation before it runs, allowing you to review which connector is being used and what action is being performed.
You can begin with general exploration and then ask increasingly detailed business questions.
For example:
-
What tables are available in the data warehouse?
-
Show me total sales by month for the last 12 months.
-
How many active customers do we have by region?
-
What is the current inventory level by warehouse?
-
Compare sales performance this year versus last year by product category.
-
Summarize the key business trends over the last six months.
